Remembering
the Master (Bruce Lee, James Yimm Lee and the Creation of Jeet Kune Do) This book titled “Remembering the Master” sheds some very insightful views about the similarities of these two
great martial warriors. The touching memories of their relationship is
eulogized by the one’s that knew both of them best while they were together
in Oakland, California during the Oakland Years (1962-1965). These lasting
memories are reflected the “LETTERS
OF THE PAST” chapter and features the eulogies of the
family members, JKD students, friends, (many have since passed away since
their eulogies were penned almost twenty years ago). Also included are many of James Yimm Lee’s
own personal and very private photo archives that have never been revealed to
the public before now. These old and very delicate photos depict James as a
child, his life growing up, his wife Katherine (co-author Greglon Yimm Lee’s
Mother), before and during her marriage to James Lee, parties and family
social gatherings, the children (Karena Beverly and Greglon) growing up with
Bruce and Linda in their home. The artfully rendered captions and
chronological layout of these treasured memories from “JIMMY’S SCRAPBOOK” will give you a real sense of the era and for the times, places, events
and experiences that led up to Bruce Lee and James Yimm Lee’s timely meeting
in the first place. Another chapter focuses exclusively on the students of
the Oakland JKD branch that have made a reputation for themselves in the
world of martial arts. Notable featured inclusions in this section are Al
Novak, George Lee, Al Dacascos, Ed Parker, Dan Inosanto, Ralph Castro, Eric
Lee, David Cox, Gary Cagaanan, Felix Macias, Sr., Sid Campbell, Greglon Yimm
Lee, Bob Baker, Howard Williams, and many students, families and friends. This volume is chocked with many, many
photographs that will undoubtedly leave you musing for hours of the times
that were…The Oakland JKD Years. |
